In order to meditate, make sure you have a suitable atmosphere for it. The environment plays a vital role in meditating. You can practice good meditation in the early morning in a peaceful green lawn or a park. You can also choose a cozy and peaceful corner in your home. Make sure nobody interrupts or disturbs you while you are practicing, as your mind then gets easily distracted and you lose focus.

• Sit with your legs crossed in the posture of Padmasana

Padmasana is one of the most recognized postures all across the world for meditation. As you sit erect with your hands in your lap, you can actually get the essence of meditation. Sitting erect in that particular position gives your spine a stretch and thus erases the spine related disorders.

• Breath deep and inhale the fresh air around

Breathe deeply in and out. This activity will let the proper oxygen circulation flow in your body and you will find yourself more rejuvenated.

• Close your eyes and calm your mind

As you close your eyes, you will find everything turning dark. But as you start concentrating on a single object or thing, you will find all except the object is blurred. You need to calm your mind before you meditate. Leave aside your day-to-day worries as soon as you sit to meditate. If you are not able to concentrate on a single object, you will not be able to meditate. Loosing focus is a major mistake one does while meditating that should be avoided.

• Focus on a single object until your mind sticks to it

Focusing, focusing and focusing are the three golden rules for meditation. The object can be as small as a needle or as big as an elephant. No matter what the object is, just concentrate and focus on the thing. Try to avoid your present worries and just calm your mind to the object of focus.
